It's very simple: collect old mobile phones and Manchester autism charity Hearts and Minds will exchange them for an iPad:

John Fashanu reveals his son's autism-like learning difficulties as he visits a special school for Hearts and Minds

Football legend John Fashanu revealed his son's autism-like learning difficulties on a visit to a special school for Hearts and Minds.  He was presenting iPads and a defibrillator to Oakfield School in Dukinfield, Greater Manchester, which were obtained through the Hearts and Minds mobile phone recycling scheme by Cheryl Broadfield, through her Give Bobby A Voice appeal.

John Fashanu joins Hearts and Minds as an ambassador

Hearts and Minds is delighted to announce that John Fashanu has joined the charity as an ambassador.


John Fashanu's footballing career spanned 16 years, and he played for a number of high profile clubs, most notably Wimbledon and Aston Villa.  During his time at Wimbledon, Fashanu scored 126 goals. His best season was 1990–91, when he was the First Division's second highest scorer with 20 goals.

In 1995 he retired due to injuries and then became a television presenter, and he will be particularly remembered for fronting the UK edition of Gladiators alongside Ulrika Jonsson in the mid-1990s.   He now hosts Deal or No Deal Nigeria, airing on M-Net Africa.

As an ambassador for Hearts and Minds, he will help to promote the charity and its activities, and will attend many of the fund-raising events including the Viva Las Vegas Ball in November and a surprise event, still to be announced!
